With 3 gold medals and 2 bronze medals at the 32nd SEA Games and the fifth consecutive gold medal at 2 Games, Pham Thi Thu (Hai Duong) was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President.
Swimmer Pham Thi Thu received the Third Class Labor Medal awarded by President Vo Van Thuong.
On May 23, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong met and commended more than 100 Vietnamese athletes who won gold medals and outstanding coaches at the recent 32nd SEA Games.
Appreciating the determination, will and hard work of each athlete, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that the achievements of the Vietnamese athletes have left an impression on fans about an emotional SEA Games, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, nobility and purity of Vietnamese sports. Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on the field of physical education and sports in particular and human development in general, that a strong people makes a prosperous country, the President affirmed that the Party and State always provide the best possible conditions to take care of this work. At the 32nd SEA Games, Hai Duong's high-performance sports delegation contributed 13 athletes and 1 coach-athlete to the national teams, winning 7 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals.
In particular, athlete Pham Thi Thu in diving alone won 3 gold medals, including 1 individual gold medal, 2 team gold medals, broke the SEA Games record and won 2 bronze medals. At the 31st SEA Games, Pham Thi Thu won 1 individual gold medal, 1 team gold medal.
At the meeting, Pham Thi Thu was the only athlete from Hai Duong at SEA Games 32 to receive the Labor Medal from the President.
