On May 31, the People's Committee of Phu Luong Ward (Ha Dong District, Hanoi) organized a ceremony to reward Mr. Leng Van Bang (41 years old, from Dien Bien, residing in Hoai Duc District, Hanoi).
Mr. Bang was the brave person who climbed to the 3rd floor and carried 2 people to escape the fire at the boarding house in residential group No. 1 (Phu Luong ward). Previously, at 5:30 a.m. on May 30, a fire broke out at the boarding house when there were 9 people inside. Upon discovering the fire, 4 people escaped by themselves through the emergency exit to the house next door. Two people were saved by Mr. Bang and the remaining 3 were saved by the fire prevention, fighting and rescue police force (Ha Dong District Police).
At the conference, Mr. Leng Van Bang shared that at that moment, he only thought that if he could save someone, that person would have a chance to live. Mr. Bang recounted: At that time, he happened to pass by the area of Residential Group No. 1 and discovered the fire. Stopping the car to observe, he saw an arm reaching out on the 3rd floor shouting "Uncle, save me". Without hesitation, Mr. Bang parked the car and climbed the wall to the 3rd floor, using bricks to break the wall to save 1 person first. Because the victim no longer had the strength to hold on, he let the victim climb onto his shoulder, with one hand he held the victim's hand to clamp it to his body, with the other hand he held onto the lightning protection wire on the wall of the house to slide down. After bringing 1 person down, seeing that there was still a victim calling for help above, Mr. Bang continued to climb up, breaking the wall to let the victim crawl through. When he and the second victim reached the ground, the police force came to their rescue.
Speaking at the conference, Head of Ha Dong District Police Nguyen Ngoc Quyen said that Mr. Bang, with his courage and responsibility, had a beautiful act, rushing into the fire to save two victims.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quyen noted that when a fire occurs, it is very important for local forces and people to proactively handle the situation during the "golden hour". In addition, landlords also need to be informed and reminded by authorities to voluntarily dismantle and open escape routes from tiger cages. Each household should be equipped with fire extinguishers, masks and fire alarms to prevent fires...
At the conference, the local government announced the commendation decision of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Dong District, Can Thi Viet Ha, and the commendation decision of the People's Committee of Phu Luong Ward for citizen Leng Van Bang for his brave action in saving people in the fire at the motel.
