Inauguration of the Lao Public Security Political Academy

The ceremony was co-chaired by General To Lam, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, and General Vilay Lakhamphong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos. Also attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Nguyen Ba Hung; and many leaders of relevant units of the two ministries.

Started on August 25, 2022 in the capital Vientiane, the Lao Public Security Political Academy Project is built on an area of ​​6.5 hectares with a total investment of 250 billion VND. The goal and scale of investment is to build new construction items to serve the teaching, training and accommodation of the Academy. Basically meet the facilities to serve the needs of training, fostering, teaching and learning with a scale of 150 cadres, teachers and 1,200 students/year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister To Lam emphasized that although economic and budgetary conditions are still facing many difficulties, with the spirit of sharing and helping each other "biting a grain of salt in half, breaking a piece of vegetable in half", the Party, Government and the People's Public Security Force of Vietnam have decided to invest in building and presenting the Lao Ministry of Public Security with the Lao Public Security Political Academy with the desire to contribute to the work of building an increasingly standardized and modern Lao Public Security Force, meeting the requirements of public security work in the new situation more effectively.

In the context of the increasingly complex developments in the world and the region today, the public security forces of the two countries are required not only to be good at their expertise and proficient in their profession, but also to have a firm political stance. Each public security officer must be regularly educated and trained in theory, improving his or her political mettle and revolutionary ethics to meet the increasingly high demands of public security work in the new situation.

Minister To Lam expressed his hope that the Lao Public Security Academy will become a major center for political theory research and teaching of the Lao Ministry of Public Security and of the brotherly country of Laos; affirmed that the Vietnam People's Public Security force will always accompany and stand shoulder to shoulder with the Lao Public Security force in the cause of national construction and development, ensuring political security and social order and safety of the two countries of Vietnam and Laos, contributing to the successful implementation of the contents of the Resolutions set forth by the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

In the immediate future, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will work with the Lao Ministry of Public Security to put the Lao Public Security Political Academy into effective operation, and is ready to coordinate in developing lesson plans, curricula and teaching materials, and send experts to help the Lao Public Security Political Academy in the near future.

Minister To Lam wished the Lao Public Security Political Academy to become increasingly strong and mature, worthy of being a major political theory training and fostering center of the Ministry of Public Security and of Laos, worthy of being a symbol in the relationship and cooperation between the police forces of Vietnam and Laos.

In his speech, General Vilay Lakhamphong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos, expressed his emotion about the special attention of the Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, who proposed that the government, in coordination with relevant units, provide aid to the Lao Ministry of Public Security with all their heart, helping this extremely meaningful project to be approved and implemented quickly, ensuring the handover and operation according to plan, with high quality according to standards to serve the training, teaching and learning of generals and officers of the entire Lao People's Public Security force.

The Lao Minister of Public Security emphasized that this beautiful, modern and important Political Academy is a mark of the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and two police forces of Laos and Vietnam; he pledged to operate this Academy not only with the highest efficiency, but also to manage, maintain and make the best use of the project in the training of generals and officers to improve the knowledge and capacity of the entire Lao Public Security force, grasp the Party's guidelines and the laws of the Lao State, train a force that is politically steadfast, professionally sharp, and organizationally strong, ensuring the completion of political tasks assigned by the Lao Party, Government and people.
