On the morning of May 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport coordinated with other units to organize the opening ceremony of the Thang Long high-speed train from Nha Be (Ho Chi Minh City) to Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Hoa An, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, stated that tourism and waterway transport are identified as characteristics of Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, the opening of the high-speed ferry route from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao will increase connectivity with the provinces in the Southeast region.
Opening of high-speed boat with more than 1,000 seats, from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao in just 4 hours
Currently, to get to Con Dao from Ho Chi Minh City, there are two means of transportation. One is by air (about 50 minutes), the other is by car and speedboat from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau, Con Dao.
Mr. Vu Van Khuong, Deputy General Director of Phu Quoc Expressway Joint Stock Company (investor) affirmed that from now on people can go directly from Saigon - Hiep Phuoc port to Con Dao in about 4 hours.
The ship can operate in level 8 wind conditions while still ensuring high stability, reducing seasickness, and ensuring safety for people on the journey.
The high-speed boat from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao is called Thang Long, 77.46m long, 9.49m wide, can carry up to 1,017 people, and has a speed of up to 35 nautical miles/hour. In addition, the boat also has many modern equipment, ensuring the highest standards of the world's maritime safety system, and has a fast speed. The entire route from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao takes about 4 hours, and from Vung Tau to Con Dao takes more than 3 hours.
Regarding ticket prices, the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route has ticket prices ranging from 615,000 - 1.1 million VND/trip depending on the passenger, ticket class and departure time. For now, the company will arrange a shuttle bus from 23/9 Park departing at 5:00 - 5:20 am for the journey to Saigon - Hiep Phuoc Port.
