According to the Maariv news portal, the Rishon LeTsiyon city government opened public bomb shelters on July 31.

Meanwhile, according to Israeli media, the country's air defense system also successfully intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Iraq towards the city of Eilat. This development prompted the Tel Aviv government to decide to open public bomb shelters in the city.

On July 30, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had carried out an attack in the southern suburbs of Beirut targeting "a commander responsible for the murder of children in Majdal Shams and the killing of many other Israeli civilians." The IDF later said that the top military commander of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, Fuad Shukr, was killed in the attack. However, another source told Sputnik that the strike did not kill Shukr. Lebanese media reported that at least four people were killed and 74 others were injured in the airstrike.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has denounced Israel’s attack, calling it a violation of international law. He also called on the international community to hold Israel accountable, end its violence, and implement international resolutions; and convened an emergency Cabinet meeting on July 31.

The Israeli military said the airstrike was in response to a rocket attack on the Golan Heights that killed 12 people. Israel accused Hezbollah of being behind the attack, but the group denied any responsibility.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would respond to the attack on the Golan Heights and Hezbollah would pay a price "like never before".
