Hung Duc Bridge is nearly 4.1 km long, spanning the Lam River, connecting Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province with Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.

The joint location is in the middle of the bridge with a 2 m long, 17.5 m wide girder, using more than 24 m3 of concrete, connecting the north bank in Hung Thanh commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province and the south bank in Quang Vinh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.

Closing is the key stage in the construction of the cantilever, connecting the bridge spans across the river with girder segments. This morning, the last girder segment was poured with concrete, completing the closing of the entire cantilever section. Vehicles can start traveling on the bridge to transport construction materials, contributing to speeding up the construction progress of the bridge and highway.

Belonging to Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway, Hung Duc Bridge started construction in May 2022, with a total length of nearly 4.1 km with 90 spans, including 76 Super-T spans and 14 cantilever spans. The bridge surface is 17.5 m wide with 4 lanes, a hard median in the middle, and a design speed of 80 km/h. This is the longest river-crossing bridge on the entire North-South Expressway.

According to Mr. Truong Duc Lien, Deputy Director of Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company, Hung Duc Bridge is technically complex and is a critical part of the project. During the construction process, contractors encountered many difficulties due to storms and rains, the temporary bridge was washed away by floods twice and was affected by storms.

"Up to now, the project has reached more than 95% of the volume, exceeding the planned schedule," said Mr. Lien, adding that the construction units are focusing on completing items such as casting railings, median strips, and paving the bridge deck... to complete by early May.

Hung Duc Bridge is one of the most important components of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway. When completed, the project will help complete the river connection system, contributing to promoting economic and social development in Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh) and Hung Nguyen and Nam Dan districts (Nghe An) as well as the entire region.

In addition to Hung Duc, authorities have previously built four road bridges across the Lam River connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, including Ben Thuy 1 and 2, Cua Hoi and Yen Xuan.

According to Nghe An's planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the province will build Ben Thuy 3 bridge, starting at Hung Hoa commune, Vinh city, ending at Xuan Hai commune, Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh province). This is a project in the list of priority investment projects using the State budget. When completed, it will be the 6th bridge across the Lam River, creating a driving force for the development of the North Central region.

Construction started in May 2021 and is expected to open to traffic at the end of April 2024. To meet transportation needs, phase one of the road has a scale of 4 lanes, 17 m wide, and a design speed of 80 km/h.

The project has a total investment capital of more than 11,150 billion VND, of which investor capital is about 5,090 billion VND and state capital is more than 6,060 billion VND.
