High tuition fees at many private schools in Hanoi

In the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year, many private schools announced their tuition fees for the new school year. Some schools have tuition fees of nearly 900 million VND/year, not including other fees.

Many parents in Hanoi choose private schools because of the quality of education.

Tuition fees at private schools in Hanoi range from several tens of millions of VND/year to several hundreds of millions of VND/year, depending on the training program. Parents should note that in addition to this tuition fee, students must also pay fees such as: Breakfast, lunch, boarding fees, shuttle bus fees (if any), uniforms, registration fees (non-refundable), facilities development fees, study materials fees, field trips, after-school clubs, etc. In addition, many schools will have entrance exam fees, ranging from 500,000 - 2 million VND.

According to the tuition fee announcement, Olympia High School has the highest tuition fee with some systems equivalent to 100% foreign-invested international schools.

Specifically, the bilingual program, tuition fees for elementary to high school in 2023-2024 are 159 - 210 million VND. The international dual diploma program for grades 9 - 12 charges 299 - 328 million VND, the IB international baccalaureate program is over 639 million VND, the US international program, tuition fees for grade 12 (studying in the US) is 866 million VND...

With the school's international dual degree program, upon graduation, students will receive an additional high school diploma from Marianapolis Preparatory School in the United States.

The tuition fee for the US international program at Wellspring Bilingual High School, from grades 9 to 12, is about 427 million VND per year. Students receive an American high school diploma issued by the University of Missouri School of Education.

In the 2023-2024 school year, the highest tuition fee of Nguyen Sieu Primary, Secondary and High School is 180 million VND/year for 11th and 12th grade students in the AS-A2 (A-Level) training system.

For first graders participating in the International model - Developed from the Advance class model, the annual tuition fee is 150 million VND.

For students choosing the Advance training system, the annual tuition fee will be 130 million VND (for grade 10 students) and 110 million VND (for grade 2-4 and grade 8-9 students). The High Quality model for grade 12 students is 50 million VND/year, the Enhanced Academic English model for grade 9-11 students is 65 million VND/year. In addition, grade 1-8 students registering for the International Bilingual model will pay a tuition fee of 95 million VND/year and IGCSE (for grade 9-10 students) will be 115 million VND/year.

The Newton Inter-level School System has also announced tuition fees for the 2023-2024 school year. At the secondary level, students in grades 6-8 pay tuition fees of 69 million VND (semi-international system), 87 million VND (Cambridge - UK system) and 119 million VND (bilingual - US system) respectively. Students in grade 9 will pay tuition fees of 73 million VND, 95 million VND and 127 million VND for the above systems respectively.

Tue Duc Green Primary and Secondary School, monthly tuition for students at both levels in the 2023-2024 school year is 6 million VND. Primary school children who register for 3 meals at school will pay an additional 1.3 million VND/month, this fee for secondary school children will be 1.5 million VND/month.

The school has a preferential policy. If parents pay tuition fees during the period of February 20-April 15, the school will apply a 20% preferential policy (if paying annually) and a 15% preferential policy (if paying by semester). In particular, from the 2023-2024 school year, the school will not apply the policy of refunding 90% of the actual tuition fees paid for the remaining months for cases of paying annually or by semester but not finishing the course due to objective reasons. For students who transfer schools before the end of the school year, affecting class size, enrollment and other related activities, the school will collect one month of listed tuition fees.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Hanoi Star Primary and Secondary School will collect a tuition fee of 3 million VND/month for grade 1 students and 2.5 million VND/month for grade 6 students. If registering for the advanced support program (English, sports, life skills, STEM Creative Experience program), the tuition fee for grade 1 children will be 5 million VND/month, and grade 6 children will be 3.5 million VND/month.

In addition, grade 6 students registering for the specialized program and the second foreign language program will pay an additional 500,000 VND/month.

The Multiple Intelligences Education System collects tuition fees for each level of primary, secondary, high school and for each program: STEAM Creativity, High Quality, and Language Talent. For primary school, the annual tuition fee for the three programs is 39.9 million VND, 45.6 million VND, and 53.2 million VND, respectively. Secondary and high school students will pay tuition fees of 47.5 million VND, 52.2 million VND, and 58.9 million VND, respectively.
