Sister Khion broke her leg and has not recovered yet, she still just sits in one place.

In the old tiled house of only about 20 square meters built in 1982, which has seriously deteriorated, Ms. Khion has a broken leg and is bedridden, unable to move. Her two daughters are busy cooking rice. Witnessing the three of them in the dilapidated house that looks like it is about to collapse, everyone feels sorry and worried. Because the house is too small, Ms. Khion lies outside under the roof, next to the uncovered bed. The cold weather, the howling wind makes us feel like we are sitting in the yard.

Ms. Khion is a Ba Na ethnic, from Gia Lai. In 2009, Mr. Pham Phu Hoe from Van Phuc commune came to Gia Lai to do business and met Ms. Khion. The red thread brought the two of them together and they had two daughters born in 2010 and 2014. Just when they thought their married life would go on peacefully, one incident after another occurred. In 2018, Mr. Hoe was diagnosed with liver cancer. The family actively sought medical treatment, but in early 2023, the terrible disease caused the two young children to forever lose their father along with a debt of more than 140 million VND borrowed from relatives and neighbors to pay for his treatment.

Ms. Khion had to shoulder the burden of being both a mother and a father to raise her children. Unfortunately, in a foreign land, Ms. Khion was not very agile, so she did whatever people hired her to do in the village with a meager income, sometimes not enough to eat. Ironically, on December 24, 2023, Ms. Khion fell, a motorbike ran over her leg, causing her to break it. The hospital asked Ms. Khion to have surgery, but because she had no money, she had to ask to go home and then treat it by wrapping it in leaves. On February 26, when she went for another X-ray, Ms. Khion's leg bones had gradually healed, but she could not walk yet, and could only lie in one place, depending on the care of her two young children.

Khion and her three children live in a seriously degraded house.

While crying, Ms. Khion said: "I am helpless and worried because I don't know when I will be able to walk again to earn money to support my children's education and pay off the debts I have borrowed."

Ms. Pham Thi Nhung, President of the Women's Union of Van Phuc Commune, said that Ms. Khion is one of the members who has been a poor household for many years and has the most difficult circumstances in the commune. In the past, the departments, branches, organizations in the commune, and neighbors have also given a lot of love, support, and encouragement to the family, but it is nothing compared to the difficulties that she is facing. The locality really hopes that benefactors will join hands to help and contribute to helping Ms. Khion and her children ease their difficulties.
