Music lovers will have the opportunity to watch the most famous concert in world history, “Live Aid”, again at The Old Vic musical theater, in London, England, in early 2024.
Held simultaneously in the UK and the US on July 13, 1985, this was the largest music night of all time with about 1.5 billion people watching live and bringing together the most famous voices in the world such as Queen, Madonna and David Bowie.
The musical version of “Live Aid” will be titled “Just for One Day” written by John O'Farrell and directed by Luke Sheppard, telling the story of “Live Aid” when 70 artists performed for free to 1.5 billion viewers to raise $127 million for famine relief in Africa. The work will be shown at The Old Vic Theater in London, England from January 26 to March 30, 2024.
Music lovers of the 80s will be able to relive the emotions of “Live Aid” 40 years ago, with the famous voices of the time such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, David Bowie and Queen. According to rocker Bob Geldof, who co-organized the 1985 event, he is also looking forward to the release of “Just for One Day”:
“If the musical has a positive impact then it will be a job well done. I’m looking forward to the premiere at The Old Vic. Just For One Day is not a tribute, there won’t be people dressed as Freddie with the famous moustache. The songs will drive the film,” said Bob Geldof.
Old Vic artistic director Matthew Warchus said Just for One Day will bring to life the moment that stopped the world and brought 1.5 billion people together. They all have a story to tell about the day rock'n'roll changed the world. 10% of ticket sales will go to the Band Aid charity.
