Happy “cells”

The family is considered the “cell” of society. Happiness in each family needs to be nurtured regularly to create a complete and loving home.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong in Van Tai village, Hong Phong commune (Nam Sach, Hai Duong) believes that family happiness comes from each member. A happy family does not only come from the husband or wife but also needs to create joy and connection between members. “In my family, members always listen, share and respect each other. Simple things like shopping and spending always have discussion and agreement between husband and wife. Children are respected by their parents, and in return, they also have the responsibility to build a happy family from small things like helping their parents with housework and studying independently,” Ms. Hong shared.

The ancients said "When husband and wife are in harmony, the Eastern Sea can be drained dry". In every family, happiness is always built and built by each member.

Hoang Thi Phuong, a second-year student at Hai Duong University, said she admires her parents' love. They don't have to wait for anniversaries or holidays, but they often surprise each other. Phuong gave an example: "Dad saw that Mom was getting fat, so last weekend he asked me to buy new shoes for Mom. Dad even remembered Mom's shoe and clothing sizes. My mom also always cares about Dad, from his eating preferences to his daily habits. Such seemingly small things are enough for us to learn how to keep the fire of love burning and build our parents' family happiness."

Each person will have their own criteria for building a happy family, but they often include basic elements such as respect, responsibility, equality, sharing, and love. In which, mutual respect is the top principle, helping to maintain a sustainable marriage.

Together we build

Implementing the “Vietnam Family Development Strategy to 2030”, Hai Duong has quickly developed many solutions to implement this program. Hai Duong clearly identifies the goal of building a prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized family as the driving force for sustainable development; the responsibility of all levels, sectors, and the whole society; the foundation for building a happy society, a happy nation, etc.

To achieve this goal, many localities in Hai Duong have built models and action programs to build happiness together in each family, thereby spreading it to the community.

The Hai Duong Women's Union has a movement to build a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy family, "Raising good children". The Farmers' Association has a movement "Happy Farmers' Families". The Veterans' Association has a movement "Exemplary Member Families"... The "Sustainable Family Development" Clubs, "Domestic Violence Prevention" groups or "Trusted Address" models... have been established to contribute to building happy, peaceful families.

In recent times, the movement to build cultural families has been widely and effectively implemented in many localities in the province. In 2023, Hai Duong had more than 570,000 families achieving cultural titles, accounting for nearly 90% of the families in the whole province.

International Day of Happiness reminds everyone to respect the value of happiness, strive every day to bring happiness to each other, contribute to the goal of building a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy, civilized family; build a happy living, learning and working environment. Every happy family will be the foundation of a happy society. Every happy family will build a happy society and country.

International Day of Happiness March 20 was announced at the United Nations conference in June 2012 at the proposal of the Kingdom of Bhutan - the happiest country in the world. The United Nations unanimously chose March 20 every year as the International Day of Happiness because this is a special day of the year, when the sun is horizontal to the equator. On this day, the length of day and night is equal - symbolizing the balance and harmony of the universe. International Day of Happiness with the message of balance and harmony is one of the keys to happiness.
