South Korea stresses commitment to contribute to solving global challenges

At the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2024 taking place in Davos, Switzerland, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo emphasized the country's commitment to playing a leading role in the fight against urgent global challenges.

A press release from the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea on January 18 reported that Prime Minister Han Duck-soo attended the 2024 WEF Davos, which gathered leaders of countries and businesses with the theme "Rebuilding Trust."

During the Pacific Regional Session, the Korean Prime Minister discussed with speakers from various countries ways to promote inclusive and sustainable development in the region. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation to address the challenges facing the region.

Mr. Han Duck-soo also participated in two closed-door meetings with world leaders to address challenging issues, such as rebuilding international trust and artificial intelligence.

On the sidelines of WEF Davos 2024, the South Korean Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene to discuss measures to enhance cooperation in the field of infrastructure construction.

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo also met with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico, expressing hope that more Korean businesses will contribute to the development of the Central European country.

In addition, Mr. Han Duck-soo also held sideline meetings with a group of CEOs of leading multinational companies, including Coca-Cola and Amazon, and encouraged these businesses to pay more attention to the Korean market.

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo is expected to attend several meetings on January 19 and have a private meeting with WEF Chairman Klaus Schwab.
