On the morning of June 4, in Co Dung commune (Kim Thanh), the Department of Natural Resources and Environment organized a rally to "Respond to World Environment Day June 5 and Action Month for the Environment in 2024".
During the “Month of Action for the Environment” and in response to this year’s World Environment Day, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment recommends that localities implement practical activities to increase communication effectiveness, create rapid and wide spread, contributing to raising awareness of environmental protection, nature conservation, biodiversity and climate change response, and natural disaster prevention.
Mobilize the active participation of all levels, sectors, unions, organizations, individuals, and communities in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, climate change response, solving environmental "hot spots", outstanding and pressing issues that cause public concern... contributing to the successful implementation of the Project "Solid waste treatment in Hai Duong province for the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030".
Representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment requested localities to direct specialized departments to actively promote World Environment Day on June 5, World Ocean Day on June 8 and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week in 2024 to form a series of activities in the "Month of Action for the Environment".
Regularly clean up the environment, collect and treat waste and garbage at agencies and schools; clear the flow of canals, ponds, lakes, etc. Propaganda and organize the implementation of the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020. Integrate the content of circular economy, green economy, sustainable development in the construction and implementation of local economic development. Strengthen waste classification at source, collect and treat waste centrally. Include educational content on the harmful effects of plastic waste and nylon bags in the curriculum of schools. Launch movements and initiatives to use environmentally friendly materials to replace single-use plastic materials in daily life.
On this occasion, the Hai Duong Provincial Environmental Protection Fund presented the People's Committee of Co Dung Commune with 725 kg of microbiological products; The following LLCs: Sumiden Automotive Electric Cable, Pacific Crystal Textile, Tinh Loi Garment and LEO Paper (Vietnam) presented 725 plastic bins for composting organic waste.
World Environment Day on June 5, launched by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), is an event that Vietnam has responded to and organized annually since 1982.
