Dien Hong Award leaves an echo in the team of journalists

A reporter won an award at the first Dien Hong Award.

On the afternoon of July 26, at the National Assembly House, the Steering Committee of the National Press Award for the National Assembly and People's Councils (Dien Hong Award) held a meeting to summarize the first Dien Hong Award in 2023.

Member of the Politburo, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, Head of the Steering Committee of the Award; Member of the Party Central Committee, General Secretary of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong, Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award chaired the meeting.

Reporting on the organization of the tournament, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office, Assistant to the National Assembly Chairman Pham Thai Ha - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Tournament Organizing Committee said that the Tournament Organizing Committee has received attention from the National Assembly Standing Committee, especially the close direction of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Head of the Tournament Steering Committee Tran Thanh Man; the active, regular, continuous, and highly responsible coordination of relevant agencies.

The judging panel operated professionally and responsibly in an objective and impartial manner, correctly and convincingly identifying the winning works.

However, during the implementation process, the Organizing Committee also encountered some difficulties. This was the first time the National Assembly Office hosted a national-level press award, so it did not have much experience.

The time for launching, judging and awarding prizes is only over 5 months (from December 27, 2022 to June 9, 2023), so it is inevitable that there will be confusion in implementation. The coordination of some units is not yet tight, and they are not proactive in resolving difficulties, which partly affects the organization of the prize.

Through discussion, the members of the Steering Committee assessed that the first Dien Hong Award was a great success, leaving a resounding echo among the Vietnamese press, attracting the attention of the entire political system, voters and people nationwide about the position, role and activities of elected bodies, elected representatives and honoring journalists who wrote about the topic of elected bodies.

The awarded works are all the best, most deserving, and have a positive impact on public opinion. The members of the Steering Committee also added strict and objective criteria in selecting works for the award, organizing, developing and implementing the plan for the second Dien Hong Award.

On behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man acknowledged and highly appreciated the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Hanoi People's Committee and news agencies, newspapers, relevant agencies and units, and sponsors for accompanying and closely coordinating with the Organizing Committee and the National Assembly Office to successfully organize the tournament.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested the Organizing Committee and the Office of the National Assembly to absorb the comments and propose to the Steering Committee of the second Dien Hong Award in 2024; quickly complete and promulgate the organization plan and regulations of the second Dien Hong Award; pay more attention to the quality of the awarded works...

The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly noted that the National Assembly Office needs to organize training courses for central and local press reporters on the organization and operation of elected agencies and elected representatives to have more quality, vivid, new works with more perspectives participating in the award, ensuring that the second Dien Hong Award has comprehensive innovation in quality; strengthen and promote effective coordination between the subjects in the Award Organizing Committee, between the Award Organizing Committee and related units and organizations to accompany and ensure resources for the successful organization of the award.
