Marathon to raise funds for the 2023 "Mass Wedding" Program

According to the Organizing Committee, the 2023 Couple Run Marathon is a kick-off and fundraising event to organize the 2023 “Mass Wedding” Program for 150 disadvantaged young worker couples that will take place on October 15. This is also the first Couple Run in Vietnam.

The race aims to improve physical strength, health, life and awareness of physical exercise and sports; contribute to building and spreading the movement of physical exercise and sports, training, improving physical and mental health; promote the spirit of mutual love, "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves", share love, enhance community spirit, thereby taking care of students and young workers in difficult circumstances.

Participants of the 2023 Couple Run Marathon include members, youth, students and volunteers of the 2023 Summer Volunteer Programs and Campaigns, along with people of Ho Chi Minh City with a sporting spirit, aiming to connect, raise social funds, and care for people in difficult circumstances.

The race is organized in two groups. Group A is for contestants who register to participate as couples, including spouses, lovers, siblings, family members, friends, colleagues, etc., regardless of age or gender.

Group B is for candidates who register as individuals, are free runners, and wish to interact and make friends with other athletes through the race; for Group B candidates, the computer system will randomly pair them based on registration and survey.

Participating in the “Couple Run”, pairs of athletes run together and support each other on a 5km race track in Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone (District 7). When reaching the designated areas with the “Love Zone” flag, the pairs of athletes must overcome challenges set by the program such as: piggybacking, carrying each other on a 10m distance, holding hands across the running track...

During the race, the Organizing Committee always ensures drinking water and emergency medical services in case of an incident for the athletes.

At the end of the race, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates to the athletes who completed the race and medals to the first 100 couples who finished; awarded 3 first prizes to male-female couples, female couples and male couples, 1 second prize and 1 third prize.

On the sidelines of this Race, there is also the “Thousands of Happy Wishes” Program. Accordingly, athletes participating in the Race will receive a greeting card to write their blessings to the couples participating in the Mass Wedding Program (with donated cash if any); the wishes and cash will then be put in envelopes and hung on the “happiness tree”. All proceeds will be donated to the “Mass Wedding” Program in 2023, given to young couples of workers and laborers in difficult circumstances.

The "Mass Wedding Ceremony" program in 2023 is expected to be held in October 2023 with many meaningful activities such as: parade of flower cars through the streets and organizing wedding ceremonies for young worker couples in difficult circumstances, thereby contributing to honoring the beauty of traditional national culture; promoting civilized and economical wedding organization; demonstrating the spirit of mutual love of the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
