Pretending to be a girlfriend to trick and steal property

Hoang Thi Hong was born in 1975, residing in Loc Hoa ward (Nam Dinh city), currently living in Lam Ha ward, Kien An district (Hai Phong city).

On September 23, the Investigation Police Agency of Kim Thanh District Police received a report that from June 28 to August 26, 2023, Hong had defrauded and appropriated property in the area.

Investigation results determined that Hong was a worker at a company located in Tam Ky commune. During his time working at the company, Hong met Ms. VTH (born in 1958). During their conversation, Ms. H. told Hong that she had a son named NTX (born in 1983) who was currently unmarried.

In June 2023, Hong told Ms. H. that she had a friend named Hien (born in 1983), currently single, living in Hai Phong City (whom Hong would impersonate to deceive Ms. H.) who wanted to introduce her to Mr. X. Ms. H. agreed. Hong gave her current phone number and told Ms. H. that this was Hien's phone number to give to Mr. X. to make friends and talk.

Receiving his mother's phone number, Mr. X. added the account "Hien Hp" that Hong impersonated on Zalo. When Ms. H. and her children believed him, Hong used Hien's name 6 times to swindle Ms. H.'s money and property, totaling 56.7 million VND in cash and a pair of 2-tael gold earrings.

In mid-September 2023, suspecting Hong of fraud and property appropriation, Ms. H. and her son reported it to the police.

Hong has a previous conviction for child trafficking and was released from prison in September 2020.
