Rice and catfish prices increase sharply

The price of many types of rice has increased by 2,000-3,000 VND/kg compared to early August.

In the past half month, the prices of many types of rice in Hai Duong market have increased sharply.

Specifically, ST 25 rice costs 28,000 VND/kg, Tam Thai 21,000 VND/kg, Tam Dien Bien 20,000 VND/kg, Bac Thom 19,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai 18,000 VND/kg, BC15 16,000 VND/kg... These types of rice have increased by 2,000-3,000 VND/kg compared to early August. According to the owners of some agents and stores, for many years now, rice prices have been quite stable, if they increase, it is only at 300-500 VND/kg, never before has it increased so quickly in such a short time as it is now.

In July 2023, India banned rice exports, the world's largest rice exporter, causing world rice prices to rise. It is predicted that rice prices may continue to increase in the near future.

* According to representatives of some cage fish farmers in Nam Sach and Hai Duong City, the price of catfish has increased by about 40% compared to the beginning of the year. Currently, the price of catfish is from 100,000 - 110,000 VND/kg, an increase of 40,000 - 50,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of 2023. Other types of fish such as grass carp and common carp have increased slightly by 5,000 - 10,000 VND/kg to 55,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.

The price of catfish has increased sharply recently because many households have stopped raising it because this type of fish is difficult to raise and has many diseases.
