The next Chinese brand to enter the Vietnamese market - GAC with a pair of large SUVs and MPVs, the GS8 and M8.
Before officially launching in Vietnam, GAC and its distribution partner TC Services have announced the models expected to be officially sold in the near future. Specifically, the GS8 and M8 will be the first two representatives of the Chinese car company to compete in the large SUV and large MPV segments, which currently have few competitors.
In particular, the GAC GS8 possesses the design of a true SUV with a sturdy and muscular appearance, the front of the car impresses with a high-class radiator grille, large headlights extending from the hood to the front bumper. Large rims with a unique multi-spoke design create a square, angular look on both sides of the car body.
The interior space has high-class leather seats, spacious trunk space, especially the prominent large central screen. Along with that, this SUV owns the Megastar chassis platform developed exclusively with many modern safety and driving support features such as: Low-speed collision avoidance system, driver assistance system, pre-collision warning system.
Competing in the large SUV segment, GAC GS8 will face a number of rivals in Vietnam such as: Hyundai Palisade, Ford Explorer or even Lynk & Co 09 model. Of course, the selling price of this model is unlikely to be under 1 billion VND, even expected to be over 1.5 billion VND.
The GAC M8 is a large MPV with a premium design, highlighting the front of the car, with LED lights on both the front and rear. The car first appeared at the 2022 Chengdu Auto Show, the second generation of the GAC GN8. Previously, the first generation launched in 2017 led the Chinese domestic market in the luxury MPV segment for 34 consecutive months.
This car model is equipped with a series of luxurious features and advanced technology such as SDC electronic suspension system, level 2 self-driving support... Along with that are many other modern equipment inside the interior compartment.
Many consumers think that the GAC M8 will compete with the Toyota Alphard, but this is probably too much of a rival for the Chinese car. It is expected that the M8 will compete with larger MPVs that are cheaper, such as the Kia Carnival (VND 1,189 - 1,758 billion) or the Volkswagen Viloran (VND 1,989 - 2,188 billion).
It is not clear when GAC cars will be sold in Vietnam, but the Chinese automaker has officially appointed TC Services (part of Tan Chong Group) as the exclusive distributor, along with providing maintenance, repair and spare parts services. In addition, these two units are also building a GAC car assembly plant in Malaysia with some products to be sold in the domestic market.
