Germany to host Ukraine reconstruction conference in 2024

On September 20, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that his country will host the Conference on Reconstruction of Ukraine in 2024.

The statement was made after a meeting with the President of Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky took place on the same day on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.

According to Prime Minister Scholz, the discussion lasted about 30 minutes and focused on the political, military and humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

He also reaffirmed that Berlin will continue to support Kiev and will hold the Conference on Reconstruction of Ukraine on June 11, 2024.

In a post on the Telegram platform, President Zelensky said the two sides expressed special interest in the preparation of the Conference on Reconstruction of Ukraine, scheduled to take place in Germany next year.

Last June, Britain also hosted a similar conference in London, with the participation of leaders and representatives from more than 60 countries and financial institutions to provide support packages to help Ukraine rebuild the country.

The purpose of the conference is to help sustain the Ukrainian economy and rebuild infrastructure in the long term.
