Spain and Italy create an attractive one-sided match

The highlight of the second round of the EURO 2024 group stage was the clash between Spain and Italy. The standout player in the match was Gianluigi Donnarumma, who made several saves for Italy. However, the goalkeeper was unable to stop his teammate Riccardo Calafiori's own goal.

As expected, the Spanish team showed their superiority right from the opening whistle. In the second minute, from a cross by Nico Williams, Pedri jumped high to head the ball and forced Donnarumma to work hard to block. Not long after, Williams himself had a chance from a high ball.

The two incidents signalled the difficulties Italy faced in this match. The defending champions of the EURO tried to maintain their concentration under pressure from their opponents. Calafiori was one of the best players on the Italian side alongside Donnarumma. The duo kept stopping the opposition strikers from scoring.

In contrast, the Spanish team completely controlled the game on the pitch. However, when faced with the quality of the Italian central defenders, they did not make a difference. The efforts of Lamine Yamal and Williams on the two wings caused difficulties for the opponents but were not enough to bring goals.

After an unchanged first half, the Spanish team continued to attack relentlessly in the second half. They relied on the attacks on the flanks of Yamal and Williams.

Spain is sure to go through.

In the 55th minute, from Williams' pass, Morata made a reasonable header and made Calafiori confused and scored an own goal. The goal came to the Spanish team thanks to the opponent's unexpected mistake.

Meanwhile, the Italian team struggled with their attacking options. Coach Luciano Spaletti's players played poorly and could barely create any notable moves towards Unai Simon's goal. Even when they had chances, the Italian team did not handle them well and missed them.

Spain won 1-0 and topped Group B after two matches. This team is sure to qualify for the round of 16.
