Mr. Tran Kim Quyet in Kim Dien village, Hung Dao commune (Chi Linh) received disbursed capital from the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank of Chi Linh city.

Share the concern about tuition fees

The family of Mr. Tran Kim Quyet in Kim Dien village, Hung Dao commune (Chi Linh) is one of the poor households that has just accessed student credit capital to send their children to university. Mr. Quyet said that in 2022, his second daughter passed the university entrance exam. He was happy that his daughter had the opportunity to study further, but he was very worried because the family's circumstances were still difficult, the income mainly depended on the couple's market work, and they did not have the conditions to pay tuition for their child. Fortunately, through the village's savings and loan group, he was able to access student credit capital. Although the loan amount was not much, it was disbursed regularly during each semester, helping his daughter cover her study expenses.

Like Mr. Quyet's family, Mr. Dang Van Ly's family in Hung Vuong residential area, Sao Do ward, has a daughter who passed the National Economics University entrance exam in 2017. His family learned about the student loan program of the Social Policy Bank and was approved to borrow 70 million VND for all 4 years of study. In 2021, Mr. Ly's daughter graduated and started working. Despite economic difficulties, the family is always aware and tries to arrange to gradually pay off the bank debt. Mr. Ly shared: "I find the student loan program very reasonable in terms of interest rates and everything, and the loan procedures are also quick."

Take me to school

In order to facilitate students' quick access to loans, the Chi Linh City Social Policy Bank Transaction Office has recently coordinated with associations, unions, and leaders of savings and loan groups in localities to guide procedures for disadvantaged households to borrow loans for student expenses at the beginning of the school year. At the same time, credit officers are directed to create the most favorable conditions for poor households, near-poor households, households with average living standards, and households with financial difficulties to access the student credit program. Currently, the total outstanding loan balance for the disadvantaged student program at the City Social Policy Bank Transaction Office is 9.2 billion VND with 291 customers with outstanding loans. As of October 2023, the unit has disbursed a total of 3.1 billion VND to 131 students.

Mr. Vu Viet Hung, Deputy Director of the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank of Chi Linh City, said that in the coming time, to promote the effectiveness of the student credit program, the unit will continue to closely coordinate with socio-political organizations to effectively carry out propaganda work; coordinate to review loan subjects, organize debt collection when due. Implement a program to inspect and supervise the implementation of capital lending to ensure that no student drops out of school due to lack of money.
