On the morning of August 16, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred 34km offshore from Hualien City, Taiwan (China), causing buildings in Taipei to shake.
The China Earthquake Networks Center said the earthquake had a focal depth of 9.7 km.
There are no reports of damage yet. Buildings in Taipei also shook due to the earthquake.
A day earlier, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake also occurred off the coast of Taiwan's Yilan County.
Taiwan lies near the junction of two tectonic plates and is prone to earthquakes.
Last April, Taiwan suffered the island's biggest earthquake in at least 25 years, killing nine people and injuring more than 900.
