Hong Kong Team Wins Asia-Pacific Robocon Championship

In the final match between Vietnam 1 and Hong Kong, the Hong Kong team (China) showed its stability and certainty and won convincingly.

On August 25, at the 5,000-seat multi-purpose gymnasium of the Quang Ninh Provincial Sports Complex (Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province), exciting matches took place within the framework of the 2024 Asia-Pacific Robot Competition. Surpassing 13 teams, the Hong Kong (China) team won the championship.

In 2025, the competition will be held in Mongolia with the theme “Basketball”

The 2024 Asia-Pacific Robot Competition attracted 350 contestants from countries and territories including: Japan, China, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Mongolia, Malaysia, Nepal, Egypt, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Vietnam has 2 teams from Hung Yen University of Technical Education. This year's theme is "Harvest Day" to honor the value of agriculture, especially rice cultivation on terraced fields, a characteristic of Vietnamese culture.

Participating robots will have to perform tasks simulating the rice growing process, from sowing to harvesting. The teams have given the audience exciting and dramatic competitions.

In the final match between Vietnam 1 and Hong Kong, right after the starting whistle, the two teams quickly put their robots into position. Vietnam 1 team excelled in the first tasks, however, in the phase of putting rice into the bin, Vietnam 1 team unfortunately picked up the "bad rice" by mistake, so they had to turn back and lost the advantage.

Hong Kong showed its stability and certainty and won convincingly. As a result, Vietnam team 1 won 420 points, Hong Kong team got 510 points and won the championship.

Initiated in 2002 in Japan, the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU Robocon) is a playground for students with a passion for robots from countries and territories in the region.

The competition is not only a technical competition, but also a testament to the development of science and technology and the creativity of the young generation, of technology-loving students in the Asia-Pacific region. The event is an opportunity for young people to exchange, learn and share experiences.

In addition to the official matches, the Organizing Committee will also organize many attractive sideline activities such as exchanging and sharing knowledge about programming, robot construction and tours to the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay.

This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce the country's image to international friends, while affirming Vietnam's position in the technology field; an opportunity to introduce the natural landscape, the unique traditional cultural values ​​of the land and people of Quang Ninh, and express hospitality to domestic and international friends.

The contest is also an opportunity for students, university students and people of Quang Ninh to experience, participate in cheering, approaching science and technology and the creativity of the young generation, of technology-loving students in the Asia-Pacific region.
