On November 28, Phu Yen province held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vung Ro Wharf receiving the first shipment of the unnumbered ship (November 28, 1964 - November 28, 2024).
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department attended and spoke at the ceremony.
The delegation of Hai Duong province led by comrade Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Dac Thanh, former captain of Ship 41 with 12 times commanding the Ship No Number transporting weapons to the South and Major Ngo Van Dinh, former soldier of the Vung Ro Wharf protection unit - K60, Head of the Vung Ro Wharf Liaison Committee, reviewed the heroic feats of officers and soldiers of the Ship No Number; the army and people of Phu Yen in fighting to protect the ship and the wharf, and safely unloading goods...
Vung Ro Wharf is associated with the strategic transport route - "Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea", together with "Truong Son Road - Ho Chi Minh Trail" has become a symbol of glory of the whole nation, the embodiment of the will and aspiration to fight against foreign invaders to unify the country.
From November 1964 to February 1965, Vung Ro wharf received 4 unnumbered ships, providing nearly 200 tons of weapons to the provinces of Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Dak Lak. Thanks to that, the fighting strength of our army and people was raised, achieving many resounding victories, contributing to the liberation of the South and the unification of the country.
In his speech at the ceremony, Secretary of Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee Pham Dai Duong emphasized: We will forever be proud of Vung Ro wharf, which is a connection with the "Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea". 60 years have passed, the event of the ship No Number bringing hundreds of tons of goods and weapons from the Northern rear to Vung Ro wharf is still mentioned as a miracle of intelligence and creativity, a glorious page in the history of the army and people of Phu Yen and of the whole nation.
Speaking on behalf of the Party and State leaders at the ceremony, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia hoped that Phu Yen province would continue to promote more strongly its extraordinary will, determination, solidarity spirit, and steadfast revolutionary tradition in the cause of national liberation and unification. Phu Yen needs to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and education on revolutionary historical traditions for cadres, party members, and people so that each person will love the country, the sea, and the islands more; promote the historical significance of the event, of the unnumbered train, of the Ho Chi Minh trail at sea to promote the historical and cultural image of the country to friends and tourists at home and abroad.
Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia believes that the Party Committee, government, army and people of Phu Yen will continue to be united, dynamic, creative, determined to make breakthroughs, and complete the goals set out in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term; prepare well the conditions to successfully organize the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party; create a solid foundation for the whole country to enter a new era, an era of the Vietnamese people's rise, for the goal of "peace, unity, independence, rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, happiness", and steadily advance towards Socialism.
At the ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the Prime Minister's Decision and awarded the Certificate of Special National Monument of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail to Phu Yen province.
On this occasion, Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee presented Phu Yen province with 90 gifts (worth 100 million VND) to meritorious people, relatives of martyrs who died at Ben Vung Ro and officers and soldiers who participated in transporting weapons and ammunition at Ben Vung Ro. Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee Secretary Tran Duc Thang said that this is a small gift that the Party Committee and people of Hai Duong province send to the sister province of Phu Yen, to show gratitude for the contributions of meritorious people and relatives of martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Hai Duong province hopes that in the coming time, the Party Committees and people of the two provinces will continue to foster the steadfast relationship that has been preserved and maintained over the past 65 years; sharing for mutual development.
