Promote propaganda and education about the purpose and meaning of tree planting

On the morning of January 31, in Viet Hoa ward, Hai Duong city, the Tet tree planting festival to forever remember Uncle Ho in the spring of Quy Mao 2023 was launched. Also attending were leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of a number of departments, branches, leaders of Hai Duong city, Viet Hoa ward and local socio-political organizations.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang affirmed that during his lifetime, despite being busy with a thousand and one things, Uncle Ho always paid attention to planting trees, afforesting, beautifying the landscape, creating healthy living conditions, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people. Currently, humanity is facing the great challenges of global climate change, extreme weather phenomena such as storms, floods, landslides, droughts, salinity, etc. causing serious consequences. Therefore, planting trees is both an urgent task with many meanings for people's lives and the sustainable development of the country.

Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang cited the positive results of tree planting and afforestation in Hai Duong to affirm that the province always pays attention to this practical and meaningful movement. In 2022, the emulation movement to protect and develop green trees in the province will be continuously promoted, contributing to environmental protection, socio-economic development and improving people's lives. The province launched many practical tree planting activities such as supporting the Provincial Youth Union with 30,000 trees, planting nearly 1 million scattered trees, and converting nearly 270 hectares of fruit trees on production forest land to forestry trees.

Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang expressed his delight at the tree planting results of Hai Duong City in the 2020-2022 period. The whole city has planted 160,000 trees, a 5-fold increase compared to the 2015-2020 period. Many green urban areas have been formed with trees suitable for the urban landscape. Suburban communes have planted green alleys, hamlets, inter-village and inter-commune roads. Many roads and streets have been planted with trees with typical identities, which have been cared for, protected and grown well. With good models and practices in tree planting, the city's landscape has improved, gradually becoming a green, friendly and livable city.

To effectively implement Uncle Ho's advice and enthusiastically respond to the "For a Green Vietnam" Program, Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang requested Party committees and authorities at all levels to continue to do better in propaganda and education work to raise people's awareness of the great, comprehensive, long-term benefits and humanistic values ​​of tree planting and afforestation associated with green and sustainable economic development, minimizing the impact of climate change and making Hai Duong's natural landscape more beautiful. Party committees and authorities need to mobilize all classes of people, all agencies, organizations and armed forces to actively plant trees.

Emphasizing that Hai Duong City is the first locality to launch the Tet tree planting festival in the year of the Cat in the province, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang believes that with the highest sense of responsibility and determination, the Party Committee, government and people of the city will continue to promote good traditions, strive, rise up, boost socio-economic development, improve people's lives, ensure the ecological environment so that the city and the whole province can develop quickly and sustainably, worthy of being a type I urban area, green, smart, friendly and safe.

In 2023, Hai Duong City strives to plant nearly 41,000 trees. Including planting more than 34,500 trees at 58 locations in 19 wards and communes, replacing nearly 1,000 trees on some inner-city roads and mobilizing investors of urban areas and residential areas to respond by planting 5,500 trees. Localities and units strive to complete planting before February 28, ensuring a survival rate of over 90%.
