Impressions from competitions and sports events in the armed forces of Hai Duong province

Promote the organization of competitions and sports events

In April 2023, the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command organized the 2023 Excellent Political Teaching Cadres Competition. 69 contestants were Political Commissars, Deputy Political Commissars of the Commune-level Military Command; Political Assistants of the District-level Military Command; Political Commissars, Political Assistants, Political Teachers of Regiment 125; Political, Staff, Logistics and Technical Departments (Hai Duong Provincial Military Command) participated in the competition. The contestants competed in the content of preparing lectures (including paper lectures and electronic lectures); teaching practice; general knowledge; writing political essays to defend the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views; shooting K54 guns and commanding troops. This is the first time the Organizing Committee of the competition has included the content of writing political essays in the program, achieving good results. Many articles have high investment and combativeness.

In April 2022, the 2022 Competition for Commanders, Political Commissars of District Military Commands, Regiment Commanders, Political Commissars of Regiment 125 and Staff Officers was organized by the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command. 55 candidates competed in the field, infantry combat techniques, awareness of military work, national defense and physical fitness. The competition aimed to assess the capacity, qualifications and foster and improve the quality of military and political command cadres of units.

According to the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command, implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Military Party Congress (June 2020), the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command have promoted the organization of competitions and sports events from the grassroots to the provincial level. Based on the qualifications of the staff and the quality of task performance, the agencies and units hosting the competitions and sports events select the competition topics and content, clearly defining the goals and requirements to be achieved. From 2021 to present, all levels of the provincial armed forces have organized more than 20 competitions and sports events (at both provincial and district levels) in most fields, achieving the targets set by the congress. Many competitions and sports events are comprehensive in nature with many contents, but the participating units and individuals have proactively performed their tasks correctly and completed the competitions well.

With the viewpoint of training combined with competition, in recent times, the Military Command of Hai Duong province has always paid attention to improving the quality of competitions and sports events. Party committees, commanders, and functional agencies at all levels have paid attention to leading, directing, guiding, developing plans, and determining the content of comprehensive competitions and sports events, with focus and key points; combining theory with practice, close to reality, associated with the professional tasks of each agency, unit, and the responsibilities of each officer and soldier.

Lieutenant Colonel Doan Van Huan, Deputy Political Commissar, Thanh Mien District Military Command - the winner of the first individual prize at the 2023 Provincial Political Teaching Competition for Excellent Cadres said that participating in the competition, he and his team still had to complete the professional tasks of the agency. However, he and his teammates tried to arrange time to review, take advantage of days off and breaks to supplement their knowledge. "The competition is an opportunity for me to self-evaluate and recognize my personal capacity, from which I can make adjustments and consolidate my knowledge and teaching methods to improve," Huan said.

Identifying competitions and sports as an opportunity to comprehensively evaluate the training and practice of the unit, creating opportunities for officers and soldiers to learn and improve their qualifications, the Party Committee and the Military Command of Hai Duong province not only organize and carry out competitions and sports well in the province but also actively participate in competitions and sports organized by higher levels. The Military Command of Hai Duong province has promoted the role of Party committees and commanders at all levels in organizing, selecting participating forces, assigning specific tasks to each coach; investing time, funds, facilities, developing plans and organizing serious training. The unit's leaders regularly encourage and promptly reward coaches and athletes with high achievements in competitions and sports.

From mid-2020 to present, on average, each year, the Provincial Military Command has won 2-3 prizes at competitions organized by military regions and the entire army, exceeding the target set by the Provincial Military Party Congress (winning at least 1 prize each year). At the 2022 Competition for Commanders and Political Commissars of Provincial and City Military Commands organized by the Ministry of National Defense, the Provincial Military Command ranked 2nd overall. 1 individual won the third prize overall at the Air Defense Chief Competition, 1 individual won the third prize at the Competition "Continuing the tradition of the heroic Vietnamese militia and self-defense force". At the Unarmed Combat Championship of Martial Arts Clubs of the entire army, the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command won 5 medals (including 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals) and 1 second prize for the female team of the entire army. In 2021, the unit ranked 4th overall at the Military Region-level Militia and Self-Defense Sports Festival, and 2nd overall at the Military Region-level Sports Festival... Currently, the provincial armed forces have 1 individual participating in the Military-level Excellent Political Teaching Cadre Competition.
