Although many of the fish are too small, people in Hai Duong have caught them, leading to the risk of depleting aquatic resources.
On the morning of July 3, I went to Dong Nien market in Viet Hoa ward (Hai Duong city). When I got to the seafood area, I saw many eggplants, divided into 3 types with different prices for making soup. Small eggplants, about 50-60 per kg, were sold for 220,000 VND, 2 smaller types were 150,000 VND/kg and 180,000 VND/kg. Thanh Binh market also sells this small type of eggplant.
The seller said that this is eggplant caught by fishermen in rivers in Hai Duong and neighboring areas.
It is known that eggplants are available all year round, but the peak harvest season starts from the 7th lunar month and lasts until around October. At that time, the size reaches 3 - 8 eggs/kg. At this time, eggplants are delicious and have a lot of meat. The selling price of eggplants is also relatively high, from 500,000 - 550,000 VND/kg.
Catching small fish does not bring high economic value, risks the destruction of aquatic resources in rivers, and seriously affects the living environment. This should be banned.
