Novak Djokovic reached the Wimbledon final in what was considered the worst season of his career. He stopped at both Grand Slam tournaments at the beginning of the year after losing to Jannik Sinner (Australian Open) and Casper Ruud (Roland Garros). In the third Grand Slam, Djokovic reached the final but still could not increase the number of major titles in his career.

Djokovic's opponent in the match on the evening of July 14 was Carlos Alcaraz - the man who defeated him in the final last year. The Serbian player did not start the match well.

Djokovic struggled to fend off Alcaraz's powerful forehands, trying to draw the game to 40-40. He successfully defended 4 break points with experienced backhands. However, Djokovic unexpectedly hit a forehand that went out of court on the 5th break point, losing the opening service game.

In the fifth game, Djokovic continued to lose the break when he hit the ball over the net and made a double fault. Carlos Alcaraz had no trouble raising the score to 4-1, before maintaining his serve advantage in the following games. The score of the first set was 6-2 for the Spaniard.

A similar scenario played out in set 2, when Alcaraz quickly broke Djokovic's serve advantage. The Serbian, despite being the one to attack his opponent, lost too many points due to unforced errors. On the contrary, the overwhelming number of winners helped Alcaraz completely dominate set 2. The turning point in games 1 and 6 made the Serbian lose 2-6.

The third set was more even. Novak Djokovic played calmly and saved all four of his first service games. In the fourth game, he almost lost the break, but was lucky to escape when Alcaraz missed his forehand twice in a row.

Djokovic's efforts were almost extinguished in the ninth game. Carlos Alcaraz's classy backhand brought the first break point of the third set, and it came in the pivotal game. The Spaniard had a chance to close out the match at 5-4. However, Alcaraz missed consecutive service games after that, conceding the break despite leading 40-0 at one point.

The two strongest players at Wimbledon 2024 went into a tie-break. Here, Alcaraz showed his strength with 3 mini breaks, winning 7-4.

In the end, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Djokovic 3-0, winning his second consecutive Wimbledon title. The Spaniards still have one final to watch, which is the EURO 2024 final of coach Luis de la Fuente's team in Berlin.

With Djokovic, he has not been able to equal Roger Federer's record of 8 Wimbledon titles.
