Deploying 120,000 troops, Belarus sets up "unprecedented" minefield on border with Ukraine

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko noted that the Belarus-Ukraine border is mined and the Ukrainian army will suffer huge losses if it tries to cross the border.

According to Reuters, Russia's state news agency RIA reported that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on August 18 that Ukraine deployed more than 120,000 troops on the border with Belarus and Minsk also deployed military forces along the entire border in response.

Mr Lukashenko, an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, noted that the Belarus-Ukraine border was mined “unprecedentedly” and that the Ukrainian army would suffer huge losses if Kiev’s soldiers attempted to cross the border.
