On February 25, incumbent Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that he will run for president again in 2025.
Speaking to reporters after voting in the elections for the House of Representatives and local councils, Mr. Lukashenko announced that he would run for re-election in 2025. President Lukashenko noted that the situation would change a lot between now and the election and that he would definitely take action in response to these changes.
Mr Lukashenko, 69, has led Belarus since 1994 and is one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's closest allies.
