The information was announced on the morning of June 15.

GenAI is a field of artificial intelligence that uses advanced machine learning models trained on massive data repositories to learn how to simulate and generate new data, including text, images, audio, video, etc.

Dr. Dinh Viet Sang, Director of this training program, said that the applications of GenAI are very broad, from art and design, content creation, to e-commerce, marketing, banking and finance, medicine, and education.

Global investment in GenAI last year reached $25 billion, a five-fold increase from 2022, and is expected to reach $45 billion this year. ReportStatista Market InsightsIt is estimated that the GenAI market in Vietnam will grow at an annual rate of approximately 23% and will be worth nearly one billion USD by 2030.

"Faced with the explosion of GenAI, technology companies and leading banks are making fundamental investments in human resources, infrastructure, and technology related to GenAI," said Mr. Sang. "Training high-quality human resources in the GenAI field is an urgent need."

According toData Science Programs, there are more than 1,000 universities with training programs on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in the world, but only two schools specialize in GenAI. In Vietnam, before Hanoi University of Science and Technology, there was no school that trained.

Associate Professor Dr. Ta Hai Tung, Principal of the School of Information and Communication Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that was the motivation for the school to be determined to pioneer in GenAI.

"Over the past three months of continuous work, with the help of experts, we have successfully built the program," said Mr. Tung.

Polytechnic's GenAI program lasts 1.5 years and requires 48 credits, and is intended for students with a bachelor's degree in Information and Communication Technology. Students who pass will receive an engineering degree.

They are provided with basic knowledge of AI and in-depth knowledge of GenAI, such as: machine learning, deep learning; operating, deploying and monitoring machine learning models; building GenAI applications; generating text, images, videos, audio; applying GenAI in various fields; AI ethics and building trustworthy artificial intelligence...

Dr. Tran Viet Hung, founder of Got It - a technology startup in Silicon Valley, USA, said that GenAI is still very new to the world, only widely known when ChatGPT was born. Therefore, there are not many GenAI products on the market. This helps engineers who have a good grasp of GenAI have more opportunities to create breakthroughs.

"I am happy that Bách khoa quickly launched a program on GenAI. This is one of the few formal programs in the world that provides in-depth training, not just in Vietnam," said Mr. Hung.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the leading university in Vietnam in training and researching Information Technology. The University of Technology and Communications enrolls more than 1,100 students each year, all of whom are in the top 1% of the country in terms of high school graduation exam scores.

According to the rankingQSBy 2024, the school's Computer Science and Information Systems field will be in the world's top 451-500.
