Tu Ky district veterans compete in "Skilled Civil Affairs"

Untie the knot

To organize and implement the movement "Skilled mass mobilization", the War Veterans Association at all levels in Tu Ky district closely followed the local political tasks and the association's tasks, grasped the characteristics and situation of the area to choose appropriate forms of mass mobilization.

Do Trung field, cultivated by production team No. 5, is the "honey land" of Dai Hop commune. The commune had an early policy of consolidating plots and exchanging plots to facilitate land accumulation and application of scientific advances in production, but from 2014 to 2018, it was not implemented due to lack of consensus among the people. At the end of 2018, the war veterans in the commune actively went to each household to propagate and mobilize, so the consolidating plots and exchanging plots were successfully implemented.

The completion of "plot consolidation and plot exchange" in Do Trung field is like untying an important "knot" in the implementation of the new rural development program in Dai Hop commune. Similarly in Cong Lac, Ha Thanh, Tien Dong communes, the cadres and members of the Veterans Association also contributed to untying this "knot"...

"Going first, doing first" is also the way of the Veterans Association in mass mobilization work. Tu Ky town is implementing a plan to expand urban space. The land area for the town bypass has been cleared. Many streets are being invested in and upgraded. Mieu Dong Oc street is the main axis of La Tinh Bac residential area, expected to be widened from 4-5 m to 8-9 m. Many veterans living next to the street are ready to donate dozens of square meters of residential land, dismantle constructions worth hundreds of millions of VND to widen the road. Typical examples are the families of Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Vuong Van Cu, Do Van Binh...

Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Tu Ky town, affirmed: "The exemplary members of the Association of War Veterans have inspired many households along the road to follow suit and donate land to beautify the town."

The Veterans Association of Phuc Lam village (Minh Duc commune) coordinated to renovate 4.5 hectares of abandoned land to grow new rice variety VR20 with high yield.

Actively help each other develop the economy

Mr. Pham Ngoc Lam, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Tu Ky district, said: "Imbued with the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, "If you are good at mass mobilization, everything will be successful", recently, the emulation movement "Skillful mass mobilization" has been actively responded to by war veterans in the district and achieved some remarkable results".

Thanks to "skillful mass mobilization", over the past 5 years, many War Veterans Association members in the district have set an example by donating 18,930 square meters of land to upgrade and expand roads; participating in tens of thousands of working days, supporting billions of VND to build welfare works, rural roads, and irrigation works. War Veterans Associations at all levels in the area have effectively maintained the operation of 65 self-managed security teams, 18 environmental sanitation teams, and 108 mediation teams. Thousands of members have participated in checkpoints and "Covid community" teams; supported billions of VND to prevent Covid-19, build comrades' houses, give out gratitude savings books; mobilized the whole population to unite to build a new cultural life in residential areas...

By implementing "skillful mass mobilization" in supporting members to develop the economy, war veterans in the district have actively helped each other reduce poverty and become rich. Currently, war veterans and former soldiers own 57 farms, 335 households, 15 cooperatives, 17 cooperative groups... creating stable jobs for more than 1,800 people. The number of poor war veterans' families has decreased from 1.77% (in 2016) to 0.36% today.

Promoting the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the Veterans Association at all levels of Tu Ky district always promotes the emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans". The whole district has 148 veterans as Party Committee members, 197 veterans participating as People's Council delegates at all levels... Associations at all levels closely coordinate to gather soldiers who have completed their military service into veteran clubs; actively educate the younger generation about patriotism and revolutionary heroism.

With its achievements, the Association of War Veterans of Tu Ky district was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President (2013), and many times received the excellent emulation flag and certificate of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam War Veterans Association, the Provincial People's Committee... Disabled soldier Nguyen Huu Dung in La Giang village (Van To commune) is a typical exemplary war veteran representing the members of the Association of War Veterans of Hai Duong province to attend the National Patriotic Emulation Congress in 2021.
