America’s top news agencies and news organizations have seen a bumper crop of awards. The New York Times won three Pulitzer Prizes this year for its reporting on global conflicts and hot spots, such as the wave of child labor migrants from Central America and conflicts in the Middle East.

The Pulitzer Prize for public service, considered the most prestigious in the Pulitzer Prize system, was awarded to the New York-based nonprofit journalism organization ProPublica for a series of stories exposing financial scandals involving Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

The Pulitzer Prize for investigative journalism was awarded to reporter Hannah Dreier of The Times, for her series of works that reflect the modern-day situation of immigrant child labor in the United States and the mistakes of US authorities that have caused this problem to persist.

With an excellent series of articles on the Hamas-Israel conflict and the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, The Times also won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting.

On this occasion, the Pulitzer Prize Board issued a special statement honoring journalists covering the conflict.

The Washington Post won the Pulitzer Prize for reporting with a series of articles about rampant gun violence in the United States.

Reuters (UK) and AP (US) have won the Pulitzer Prize in photography, one of the most prestigious awards. AP was honored for its series of photographs of the flow of immigrants from Colombia to the southern border of the United States. Reuters was named for its timely and authentic photos of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Since 1917, the Pulitzer Prizes have been awarded annually by Columbia University (New York, USA) to honor outstanding works in journalism, literature, art and music. Speaking at this year's award ceremony, a representative of the Pulitzer Prize Board expressed concern about the changes in the journalism industry that are causing thousands of journalists to lose their jobs and raising questions about the sustainability of the journalism industry in the US.
