On the evening of July 10, Hanoi City Police announced that the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police had just dismantled a group that organized gambling, gambling in the form of football betting.
The amount of money the subjects traded for gambling was about 100 billion VND.
Through investigation, the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police discovered that Pham Quoc Quan, born in 1980, registered in Bach Dang, Chuong Duong, Hoan Kiem (Hanoi), is a subject with many criminal records and is the leader of gambling activities in the form of football betting.
Implementing the direction of the City Police Department's Board of Directors to focus on fighting against organized gambling crimes and gambling in the form of football betting, the City Police Department's Criminal Police Department coordinated with professional units to destroy and arrest this gang.
From May 21 to May 23, the Criminal Police Department of the City Police arrested 7 subjects including Pham Quoc Quan, Nguyen Viet Tien (born in 1989, residing in Phuc Tan, Hoan Kiem), Nguyen Viet Trung (born in 1990, residing in Phuc Tan, Hoan Kiem), Nguyen Xuan Hung (born in 1983, residing in Vinh Tuy, Hai Ba Trung), Nguyen Van Dung (born in 1983, residing in Chuong Duong, Hoan Kiem), Nguyen Tien Bac (born in 1966, residing in Chuong Duong, Hoan Kiem), Nghiem Dinh Thanh (born in 1981, residing in Van Chuong, Dong Da).
According to the investigation, around the beginning of 2023, Quan used a betting account worth 700,000 USD (converted to 1 USD = 7,000 VND), equivalent to an account value of 4.9 billion VND, accessing the website "agbongda8.com" or "mb.portoa88.com" to organize gambling activities in the form of football betting.
Quan assigned Nguyen Viet Tien to manage the general account, dividing it into many small accounts to give to other subjects to participate in organizing gambling.
During the investigation, the police also determined that Nghiem Dinh Thanh had gambled on football on the website "five88.vin". The initial investigation results determined that from January 2024 to present, the amount of money the subjects transacted for gambling was about 100 billion VND.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department of the City Police is continuing to investigate and handle the subjects according to regulations.
Previously, the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police had dismantled a gambling ring in the form of football betting and lottery trading, arresting 15 subjects with a transaction amount of up to 500 billion VND.
According to investigation documents, the leader of this gambling ring is Nguyen Xuan Yen (born in 1972; in Duc Giang commune, Hoai Duc district).
Currently, the case is continuing to be investigated and handled according to regulations.
