Many drivers like to put decorative items such as perfume, essential oils, flags, feng shui items, Buddha statues, God of Wealth statues, etc. on the car dashboard.

Many opinions say that there should be regulations prohibiting decorative items on car dashboards to ensure safety while participating in traffic.

In Vietnam, there are currently no regulations prohibiting the placement of decorative items on car dashboards, so placing such items is not considered a violation.

However, in some countries around the world, this will be punished. The reason is that drivers who leave obstacles on their vehicles will obstruct their vision, which can easily lead to accidents. Therefore, if a collision occurs and there is a decoration on the vehicle that blocks your vision, you will still be punished even if you are not at fault.

For example, in the UK, if you are caught displaying decorations on your dashboard or hanging them on your rearview mirror, or even just sticking a sticker on your windshield, you will be immediately fined £100 (about 3 million VND) and have 3 penalty points on your driving license. If you appeal to court, the fine can increase to as high as £1,000 (about 30 million VND).

In Vietnam, traffic safety experts also advise drivers not to place objects or stick tape or stickers on the car dashboard.

The reason is that decorative items can be made of plastic, wood or any other material. If they are not firmly reinforced, when braking suddenly or in an accident, they can fly out and hit people in the car, causing danger.

Even pretty decorations placed on the car dashboard can narrow the driver's vision while driving.

In particular, sticking objects on the car dashboard also affects the operation of the front airbags, even weighing them down, preventing the airbags from deploying in the event of an accident.

In addition, placing the entertainment screen on the car dashboard, next to the driver's seat can distract the driver, affecting the ability to judge and handle traffic situations on the road.

Therefore, many opinions suggest that there should be regulations prohibiting the placement of decorative items on car dashboards to ensure safety while participating in traffic.
