Cam Dong Commune (Cam Giang, Hai Duong) has reached the model new rural area finish line. In addition to meeting the model standards in education, Cam Dong is also highly appreciated for its digital transformation.
Development through technology
After more than 3 years, we returned to Mr. Dao Huu Thuan's egg-laying chicken farm in Vinh Lai village, Cam Dong commune. It is still one of the largest farms in Hai Duong, selling more than 40,000 eggs per day, but the biggest difference is that the brand "Mr. Thuan's chicken eggs" now has its own place.
In 2015, Mr. Thuan switched to the egg-laying chicken farming model. After the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Thuan set up an online business booth on the Vo So e-commerce platform. That was also the time when we visited this farm to record the efforts of the people in accessing technology and innovating business processes to overcome the pandemic. At that time, each day, Mr. Thuan's farm only took a few hours to "close orders" for more than 40,000 eggs. But now, the amount of eggs sold on the platform is almost very little.
The paradox is that after doing e-commerce for a while, Mr. Thuan's family's chicken egg brand has reached many customers in many localities across the country. "I remember that after only 2 years of doing business on the Vo So platform, my farm started receiving hundreds of traders coming to order directly. As soon as the chicken eggs arrived, the traders came to buy them all. That's why the amount of eggs sold on the e-commerce platform is now insignificant, because there are not enough eggs to sell," Mr. Thuan shared. Thanks to e-commerce, the "Mr. Thuan's chicken eggs" brand has become famous far and wide, bringing in an average revenue of 1.5 billion VND per year for his family.
As the first school in Cam Giang district to register to build a typical primary school for the 2023-2024 school year, Cam Dong Primary School not only has outstanding achievements in teaching quality, but is also proactive in applying digital technology.
According to the school's Board of Directors, from the beginning of the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year, although it was not on the list of 5 schools (out of a total of 18 primary schools) implementing the electronic lesson plan application, the school took the initiative to pilot this software. Previously, on average, each teacher at the school had to print about 2,800 pages of lesson plans and documents per school year to serve management and teaching purposes, not to mention the time teachers had to submit these lesson plans for approval. With electronic lesson plans, this has been eliminated.
“Under the general direction of the provincial education sector, we have proactively researched and applied an electronic lesson plan management system to replace paper lesson plan management. The convenience in teaching and learning for teachers as well as cost savings are easily seen,” said Mr. Vu Trong Vinh, Principal of the school.
Not only electronic lesson plans, 26 classrooms of Cam Dong Primary School have also been equipped with 21 65-inch TV screens, the remaining 5 classrooms will be added in the near future. After more than 20 years of teaching at the school, teacher Pham Thi Loan said: “It is not just simply chalk and books, teaching and learning with technology today helps students have a more intuitive view, especially with science and history subjects. Teachers themselves must also update new knowledge to improve teaching quality”.
Spread from technology
More than 4,500 out of nearly 5,000 workers use smartphones, are educated on computer usage, basic digital skills; 22 public places such as cultural houses, "one-stop" departments are equipped with free wifi... are some of the highlights that Cam Dong has achieved in digital transformation in the area during the process of building and reaching the model new rural area from 2022 to present.
Cam Dong is always in the group of localities with a high rate of online administrative procedure settlement records. In 2023, 98% of nearly 5,700 records were received online, 99.6% of these records were digitized; 98.5% of the records were digitized. In the first 3 months of 2024 alone, 973 out of more than 1,000 records for administrative procedure settlement were received online, reaching 96%, 99% of the records were digitized.
While observing the security and order situation on some roads of the commune through the monitoring screen of the system of nearly 100 security cameras, Mr. Do Van Quyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Dong commune, briefly introduced the smart village of Vinh Lai. In this village alone, through socialized resources, 16 security surveillance cameras have been installed at some intersections and main roads. Cashless payments in this village are also promoted. Basically, in places with buying and selling and business activities such as markets, grocery stores, etc., people can transfer payment.
“In the coming time, the People's Committee of Cam Giang district will continue to direct localities in general and Cam Dong commune in particular to promote the application of digital platforms, strengthen guidance for people in accessing digital technology as well as identifying fraud tricks in cyberspace, contributing to improving the district's digital transformation index", said Mr. Nguyen Van Cong, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Giang district.
