Recently, the provincial Youth Union at all levels has organized many activities to care for and protect children, especially to disseminate knowledge about preventing school violence.

Dramatization of propaganda on preventing school violence by students of Quang Khai Primary School (Tu Ky)

In mid-April, at Quang Khai Primary School (Tu Ky), Tu Ky District Youth Union organized a pilot model of the topic "Preventing school violence and child abuse" with the participation of 120 students. At the program, students in the school were exposed to knowledge about preventing sexual abuse and school violence through the form of dramatization. The skits were performed by students and teachers in the school in a simple way to help them understand easily. The students were also informed by the Chief of Quang Khai Commune Police, pointing out the responsibilities of students as well as the consequences of school violence. Pham Nhat Minh, class 4B, Quang Khai Primary School said: "My friends and I understand better, know the skills to communicate with strangers, protect ourselves when in danger, and understand the responsibility in preventing violence at school".

From the pilot model at Quang Khai Primary School, in April, Tu Ky District Youth Union directed all primary and secondary school teams in the district to simultaneously implement this topic.

Since the 2018-2019 school year, Tu Minh Secondary School (Hai Duong City) has deployed and maintained the "Friends helping friends" model. At the beginning of the school year, the school's team registered to form pairs of friends who are making progress together. Before each class, the pairs of friends often come to school early to solve exercises together, review old lessons, learn new lessons, and at the same time, after each class, exchange knowledge that teachers have taught in class. This model not only helps students progress in their studies but also builds beautiful friendships and prevents school violence in schools.

According to Vice President of the Hai Duong City Youth Union, Le Thi Ngan Ha, not only the school unions, but also the youth union chapters at all levels actively promote propaganda on preventing school violence. Every year, the City Youth Union coordinates to organize at least one forum and talk on preventing school violence. "Each youth union officer will act as a bridge, an active propagandist, providing knowledge on preventing school violence. Youth union bases have integrated propaganda on this issue through training sessions for Youth Union and Young Pioneers cadres," said Ms. Ha.

Identifying the prevention of school violence and child abuse as an important task, the Thanh Mien District Youth Union has directed the school teams to do a good job of propaganda on this issue. In the past 3 years, the school teams have coordinated to organize 20 propaganda sessions on preventing school violence and child abuse through extracurricular activities and flag-raising hours. "In addition to propaganda, teachers in charge of the teams and homeroom teachers must regularly talk to each other, detect abnormal psychology to have measures to handle it...", said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Secretary of the Thanh Mien District Youth Union.

To diversify propaganda, the School Union also uses visual media or through the activities of the young propaganda team...

It is known that the Provincial Youth Union has directed all levels of the Youth Union to pay attention and proactively disseminate knowledge about preventing school violence. According to the Youth and Children's Committee - School (Provincial Youth Union), every year, the school teams coordinate to disseminate information through extracurricular classes or activities. It is known that this summer, the Provincial Youth Union organized training for Youth Union and Young Pioneers officials in the province on summer activities. Contents on preventing school violence were also integrated into the training sessions.

However, recently, many incidents related to school violence have occurred in the province, affecting the health, psychology and emotions of students. Therefore, equipping knowledge on preventing school violence does not only come from the Youth Union at all levels, but also requires the participation of many functional agencies and each family.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang, Head of the Youth and Children's Department - School, currently, many families are still indifferent in cooperating with the school to propagate this issue. Parents need to regularly care for and talk to their children every day to grasp the psychological developments and promptly handle acts of school violence and child abuse.
