On the evening of September 12, hundreds of households in Nguyen Hoa commune, Phu Cu district (Hung Yen) and Hong Phong commune, Thanh Mien district (Hai Duong) urgently coordinated to reinforce the dike and build a flood-proof embankment on nearly 4 km of the Luoc river dike.
On the evening of September 12, the water level of the Luoc River rose, at some points only about 20 cm from the dike surface of Hong Phong commune. Facing the risk of dike overflow, Thanh Mien district mobilized military forces, police, youth union members and communes of Pham Kha, Lam Son, Thanh Tung to support. Notably, Nguyen Hoa commune, Phu Cu district (Hung Yen), bordering Hong Phong commune, urgently mobilized hundreds of people to support the neighboring commune in flood prevention.
According to the leaders of Hong Phong commune, the locality has about 700 households with 3,000 people living in the dike. The bordering commune is Nguyen Hoa, Phu Cu district, which also has thousands of households. If the dike overflows, it will cause great damage to property and even threaten the lives of thousands of households. This dike is nearly 4 km long, with some sections having difficulty traveling, making it difficult to reinforce the dike surface and handle vulnerable points in Hong Phong commune. Faced with the difficulties of the neighboring commune, hundreds of people in Nguyen Hoa commune have come to Hong Phong commune to support flood prevention at night and in the rain.
By around 00:00 on September 13, the entire dike line of Hong Phong commune had completed the reinforcement and elevation of the dike surface.
