After the apartment fire that killed 56 people in Hanoi, many mini apartment owners in Hai Duong City have increased fire prevention efforts.

Mini apartment owners tighten fire prevention

According to Hai Duong Newspaper reporters, in Hai Duong City there are many mini apartments of different sizes, mainly concentrated in wards with many students and workers such as Thanh Binh, Tan Binh, Hai Tan, Tu Minh wards...

These mini apartments have 2-6 floors, with rental prices ranging from 2-3.5 million VND/room/month. Some apartments have a large number of residents (about 70-80 people). It is now the beginning of the new school year, many new students who have just arrived in Hai Duong City to study for a few weeks and are living in mini apartments are also worried about the recent fire.

At the mini apartment building No. 46, Lane 30, Trinh Hoai Duc Street, Thanh Binh Ward (Hai Duong City), fire prevention and fighting work has received more attention after the mini apartment fire in Hanoi. This apartment building consists of a 6-storey building and a 4-storey building with a total of 40 rooms, with about 70 people living there. Many people have lived here for many years. The rooms in the mini apartment building are designed and built in a closed area with an area of ​​about 20 m2. In this apartment building, the owner has installed about 30 fire extinguishers on each floor, in the stairwell area, elevators, along with fire prevention and fighting signals. On the afternoon of September 14, the owner of this mini apartment building continued to add more sets of signals. Mr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, the owner of this mini apartment building, has just instructed everyone not to charge electric vehicles overnight, and after 10 pm every day, he will check and unplug all charging sockets.

After the mini apartment fire in Thanh Xuan district (Hanoi), the owner of the mini apartment on Trinh Hoai Duc street added many more fire fighting command sets.

At the mini apartment building at 141 Ngo Be Street, Hai Tan Ward (Hai Duong City), the apartment owner encourages tenants to use electric stoves instead of gas stoves to prevent fire and explosion. This is a fairly large apartment building with 6 floors, the first floor is a parking area and has some rooms, the upper floors have 4 apartments/floor. Each apartment is about 50 square meters wide with 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, kitchen area and bathroom, spacious balcony, so the number of people living here is quite large.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, owner of this mini apartment building, said that she will check and replace the building's electrical system to ensure safety.

However, in Hai Duong City, there are still some mini-apartments with small scale and area that have been expanded and converted from old houses and motels for rent. These places have inadequate fire prevention and fighting equipment systems.

Two Hai Duong people have been confirmed dead due to the fire.

By the afternoon of September 14, Hai Duong Newspaper reporters had verified information about two people from Hai Duong who died in the recent mini apartment fire in Hanoi. The victims who have been brought home for funeral arrangements are Mr. LTS, born in 1997, in Tran Phu Ward (Hai Duong City) and Ms. NTT, born in 1996, from Hao Khe Village, Hung Long Commune (Ninh Giang). Leaders of local Party committees and authorities promptly visited and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

Currently, on social networks, there is a lot of information spreading about the number of Hai Duong people who died in the mini apartment fire in Hanoi.

Speaking to Hai Duong Newspaper reporters at 4:30 p.m. on September 14, a representative of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong province said that they had not yet updated the exact number of Hai Duong people affected by the fire at a mini apartment building in Thanh Xuan district (Hanoi). Previously, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong province had requested the district-level People's Committee to review the emergency social assistance beneficiaries in the above fire.

In order to promptly support, encourage, and visit the victims and relatives of the victims in the above fire, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong province has requested the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities to direct the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with the People's Committees at the commune level and related units to review the subjects under their management, and provide information on cases of seriously injured people or families with deceased people in the fire at the mini-apartment building in Thanh Xuan district (Hanoi). At the same time, promptly support the treatment costs for seriously injured people and support the burial costs for those who died in the fire according to regulations.
