More than 100 people have been evacuated and two taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a complex of shops and apartments in Dagenham, east London.
In the early morning of August 26, a large fire burned down a commercial and apartment complex in Dagenham, east of London.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was carrying out a "major search and rescue operation" after being called to a fire on Freshwater Road, Dagenham, at 2.44am on August 26 (local time).
More than 100 people were evacuated and two were taken to hospital after a fire broke out at the building.
The LFB added that 45 fire engines and around 225 firefighters were deployed to deal with the fire, which destroyed the entire building, including scaffolding around the building and some areas from the ground floor to the sixth floor and the roof.
Firefighters said the fire was creating heavy smoke and advised local residents to close windows and doors.
London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe told the BBC the building "had a number of fire safety issues that the London Fire Brigade was aware of".
Authorities had been working to remove cladding from the building shortly before the fire broke out.
Valcan, a leading architectural cladding systems company, posted on Facebook last week that it was working to remove the illegal cladding on the building, known as Spectrum House.
