This is a move by top US technology leaders in an effort to promote relations with Mr. Trump.

On December 13, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced plans to donate $1 million to the fund in charge of Trump’s inauguration expenses. The New York Times quoted Altman in a written statement expressing his hope that Trump would lead the United States into the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Wall Street Journal reported on December 13 that Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce and cloud computing company, will donate $1 million to the fund. The announcement of the donation comes as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is scheduled to meet with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago private club in Palm Beach, Florida, next week. Bezos and the company decided on the donation earlier this week.

Previously, CEO Mark Zuckerberg of Meta Group also announced that the company would donate 1 million USD to the above fund.

Mr Trump’s relationship with tech giants has been rocky. During his first term as president, Mr Trump criticized major US tech companies for discriminating against him.
