Hai Duong Provincial Police Department recommends that agencies and units strengthen information security for LED screens.

Hai Duong Provincial Police have just issued a document requesting agencies, units, and localities in the province to urgently review and check the origin of LED screen management software under their management; change strong passwords (more than 8 characters including uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters) to log in to wifi. Turn off wifi on LED screen devices if only managed via wired connection.

When installing LED screens, it is necessary to carefully check the quality, origin of the equipment, and information of the organization or individual installing it. There must be instructions and responsibility for the staff of the unit assigned to manage and operate the LED screen, promptly detect and record any unusual incidents, and cut off the power to prevent display to avoid complicated consequences.

Units regularly coordinate with police agencies in ensuring safety and network security for information systems and promptly exchange information system attacks and violations. Police in districts, towns and cities advise and deploy to agencies and units in the area to carry out the work of ensuring information security for LED screens.

Recently, LED screens of some agencies, units and organizations in the province have also been attacked to change the displayed content. The subjects took advantage of the use of old, unknown-origin LED screens of many agencies, units and organizations in the province, allowing management of LED screens via wifi or management software using default, easy-to-guess passwords.

Previously, Hai Duong Newspaper published a reader's opinion "LED electronic boards of some schools were edited with inappropriate content".
