Mr. Tran Huu Duc, Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of a commune in An Giang province, was arrested by the Investigation Police Agency for embezzlement of property.
On May 30, the Investigation Police Agency (IPA) of An Giang Province Police announced that it had prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Tran Huu Duc, Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Committee of My Hiep Commune (former Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan My Commune) and Phan Thai Thanh, accountant of the People's Committee of Tan My Commune (Cho Moi District) to investigate the act of "Embezzlement of property".
The Investigation Police Agency also searched 10 locations, which were the workplaces and residences of the defendants Tran Huu Duc, Phan Thai Thanh and 3 others. Thereby, the investigation agency collected many documents and evidences related to the act of creating fake settlement documents, appropriating more than 550 million VND of the state budget.
Initially, the accused Tran Huu Duc and Phan Thai Thanh admitted to their crimes. The An Giang Provincial Police Department is investigating the case.
