The first diphtheria patient died in Ha Giang

According to the report of Meo Vac District Medical Center, the patient who died of diphtheria was VMD (born in 2008), residing in Khau Vai village, Khau Vai commune.

Previously, VMD was taken to Meo Vac District General Hospital by his family for examination, then transferred to Ha Giang Provincial General Hospital for treatment. On August 24, VMD died and was brought home by his family for burial.

According to information from Meo Vac District Medical Center, currently, in Khau Vai village, there are many people with similar symptoms, such as: swollen lymph nodes on both sides of the neck and fever; of which, 4 people are being treated at Meo Vac District General Hospital, 4 people are being treated at home.

The People's Committee of Meo Vac district directed specialized agencies and local authorities to urgently deploy epidemic prevention and control measures. The District Health Center established an investigation team to go to the area where the case occurred to investigate and verify; direct epidemic prevention and control work; and at the same time, inform the epidemic situation to the Party Committee, local authorities, relevant departments, branches, organizations and people in the area to coordinate in epidemic prevention and control activities. The Center organized an investigation, collected 6 samples and sent them to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for testing.
