Jude Bellingham's only goal gave England a win over Serbia on the opening day of Group C of EURO 2024.
England got their EURO 2024 campaign off to a flying start with a 1-0 win over Serbia in their Group C clash at Arena AufSchalke on Sunday.
Jude Bellingham, who just won the Champions League with Real Madrid, scored the only goal for the "Three Lions" in the 13th minute with a powerful header after a cross from Bukayo Saka.
Serbia almost equalised in the 27th minute when Aleksander Mitrovic's shot went wide of the right post. Dragan Stojkovie's side suffered a blow late in the first half when Filip Kostic was forced off injured.
Harry Kane almost doubled England's lead in the 78th minute after a beautiful cross from Jarrod Bowen. However, Serbia goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic made an excellent save, pushing the ball against the crossbar to save his team.
Bellingham previously became the first European player to feature in three major international tournaments before the age of 21 (20 years and 353 days), including EURO 2020, World Cup 2022 and EURO 2024.
With this victory, England moved to the top of Group C after the remaining match between Denmark and Slovenia ended in a 1-1 draw.
