Dong communal house tunnel in Thanh Tung commune (Thanh Mien) needs to be restored and protected so that it can become a place for people to visit, experience and learn about history.
In Thanh Tung commune (Thanh Mien), there is a secret basement near the Dong family national historical site associated with many important political events of the locality as well as Thanh Mien district, but it is deteriorating and needs to be protected soon.
Because it was built in the 1940s and is located in a low-lying area, the basement has been frequently flooded recently. The plaster on the walls has begun to peel off due to moisture.
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang (April 2, 1904 - April 2, 2024), a number of delegations from inside and outside the province visited the Memorial House of Vice President Nguyen Luong Bang and wanted to go down to the nearby Dong communal house basement to experience it, but they could not because the basement was flooded and unsafe.
Dong communal house tunnel is a local “red address”. Before the August Revolution in 1945, this was a place where revolutionary soldiers hid, operated and hid many documents and weapons for training. If the tunnel is renovated and restored, it will not only become a place for historical education but also a tourist attraction. Coming here, visitors can learn about local history and experience going underground.
