On the evening of June 21, the 16th National Press Awards Ceremony, 2021 - the most prestigious award of the press in the country took place solemnly at the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Cultural Palace.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated: During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero, world cultural celebrity, the founder of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism, once advised: Revolutionary journalism is a revolutionary front; press cadres are also revolutionary soldiers; pens and paper are their sharp weapons. For 97 years under the leadership of the Party, the guidance of Uncle Ho, the support and assistance of the people, the revolutionary journalism has grown steadily, making many contributions to the cause of fighting for national independence, the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Currently, Vietnam has more than 800 press agencies; over 22,000 members of the Journalists Association. This contest has attracted thousands of works of many genres, demonstrating the high awareness and responsibility of the press towards the country, truly being a very important "information bridge" between the Party, the State and the people.

Congratulating the 115 authors and groups of authors who were awarded the 16th National Press Awards in 2021, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: This is not only a great honor in the life of each journalist, but also for the agency, unit, locality where they work, and their family and friends. Today's award is to show gratitude and thank journalists who have made important contributions to the positive results and successes of the country in 2021, a year that has experienced unprecedented difficulties due to the pandemic. The press has promoted its great strength, created trust, contributed to strengthening the spirit of great solidarity, solidarity, unanimity, and support of people and businesses for the correct policies of the Party and State on the "Vaccine Strategy" and the "COVID-19 Prevention and Control Program" to help Vietnam become one of the few countries leading in the highest vaccination rate in the world. "Today's award is to honor the noble values ​​of journalists. Those are pioneering ideas, creativity, bravery, dedication, even facing danger... Those values ​​have crystallized in journalistic works to contribute to implementing the Party's correct policies, effective management of state agencies, the companionship of the people, making society better. I understand that journalism is one of the glorious but difficult professions, a profession that can be true to the song "Everyone chooses the easy job, who will take the hard job". To have good articles, reflecting truthfully, vividly, and promptly on all aspects of social life, especially investigative reports on the reality of life, many reporters and journalists have had to face danger, be threatened, go into the middle of the epidemic, the center of the storm, natural disasters, enemies... For female journalists and reporters, it is even more difficult because they often have to work overtime, take long business trips, while still having to worry about "...to take care of family work and the duties of women...", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said.
