The 45th Southeast Asian Shooting Championship (SEASA) is taking place in Taiwan (China) with the participation of 150 shooters from 9 countries and territories, including: Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan (China).
The Vietnamese delegation participating in the tournament consists of 19 members, including many young faces with potential and being invested in such as Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, Phan Cong Minh, Trinh Thu Vinh, Phi Thanh Thao....
As of November 13, the Vietnamese Shooting team has won 9 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals, temporarily ranking second overall, after Chinese Taipei with 16 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. Ranked third is the Malaysian team with 6 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals.
The gold medals of Vietnam Shooting up to this point of the tournament are the achievements of: shooter Pham Xuan Chuyen in the men's 25m individual standard pistol event; the trio of athletes Xuan Chuyen, Minh Thanh, Tien Nam in the men's 25m standard pistol event; the trio of athletes Mong Tuyen, Thanh Thao, Nguyen Thi Thao in the women's 10m air rifle team event; shooter Ha Minh Thanh in the men's 25m revolver event; the trio Minh Thanh, Tien Nam, Xuan Chuyen in the men's 25m revolver event; shooter Lai Cong Minh in the men's 10m air pistol event; the trio Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, Phan Cong Minh in the men's 10m air pistol team event; the trio Phi Thanh Thao, Nguyen Thi Thao, Duong Ha My in the women's 50m lying rifle team event; Trinh Thu Vinh and Lai Cong Minh in the mixed 10m air pistol event.
Thus, nearly 2 months after "opening the gold medal" with a historic gold medal for Vietnamese Shooting at the 2023 Asian Games (ASIAD), shooter Pham Quang Huy continues to achieve high results. Although still young, this shooter born in 1996 has a very impressive record. At the 2016 Southeast Asian Youth Shooting Championship, Pham Quang Huy won 1 individual silver medal and 2 team gold medals in the men's 25m revolver and 25m sport pistol events. In addition, Huy also won consecutive medals at domestic tournaments.
On the competition day of November 14, the shooters of the Vietnam Shooting team, Nguyen Thuy Trang, Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thi Dung and Nguyen Thi Huong, will continue to compete in the women's 25m sport pistol event.
