Khanh Hoa requested departments and agencies to advise on plans for restoration, embellishment as well as solutions for management and exploitation of 5 Cau Da villas (also known as Bao Dai villas) in Nha Trang.
On April 13, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province said it had requested departments and branches to consult on a master plan for restoration, renovation and management and exploitation solutions for the five Cau Da villas on Canh Long mountain (Bao Dai villa, in Vinh Nguyen ward, Nha Trang city).
Accordingly, to implement this soon, the province requested the Department of Culture and Sports to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and units to advise on a master plan for the restoration and embellishment of the above 5 villas.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requires determining progress and specific timelines to complete related work.
The Department of Culture and Sports proactively prepared a dossier to recognize the ranking of relics for the above villas in accordance with regulations; prepared a dossier to propose investment policies for the project to restore and embellish 5 Cau Da villas.
This Department must also preside over and coordinate with relevant units and enterprises to research and advise the province on the handover of artifacts and relics at the above 5 villas to the Provincial Center for Monument Conservation for management, ensuring compliance with proper procedures.
The 5 Bao Dai villas are 5 ancient houses named Xuong Rong, Bong Su, Bong Giay, Phuong Vi and Cay Bang, located on Canh Long mountain (Nha Trang city), built by the French in 1923.
From around 1940 to 1945, King Bao Dai and Queen Nam Phuong and their family often came to this relic site for relaxation and entertainment, hence the name Bao Dai Palace.
At the end of 2013, Khanh Hoa province assigned 13.6 hectares of land (including 8.9 hectares of Bao Dai Palace relic and Canh Long Mountain; the remaining area is the sea surface of the national scenic spot Nha Trang Bay) to a business to carry out the Bao Dai Resort Nha Trang business project.
However, the project encountered many violations during implementation and has been suspended since 2017.
Recently, Khanh Hoa province reclaimed land in this project after requesting to return 5 villas in the relic site, and the enterprise agreed.
