5th Hai Duong Provincial Banh Chung, Banh Day Contest

The 5th Hai Duong Provincial Banh Chung and Banh Day Contest was held at Con Son pagoda (Chi Linh, Hai Duong) on the morning of February 13.

Taking part in the contest were 250 artisans of 12 teams from the province's districts, city, and provincial town.

The competition was the province's activity heading towards the death anniversary of Hung Kings (the 10th day of the third lunar month) and creating a highlight for Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival.

After the opening drumbeat, the part of packing banh chung excitingly took place with the participation of all 12 teams amid the urging drumbeat and cheers of numerous people and pilgrims.

The part of pestling banh day was carried out in the afternoon with the participation of eight units of Tu Ky, Kinh Mon, Chi Linh, Thanh Mien, Gia Loc, Thanh Ha, Nam Sach, and Hai Duong city.

Banh chung and banh day made in the contest were offered to Con Son pagoda, Kiep Bac temple, Nguyen Trai temple, and Tran Nguyen Dan temple on the morning of February 14.

The teams winning first prizes for their banh chung and banh day will represent Hai Duong province in the 2014 National Banh Chung and Banh Day Contest at Hung Kings Temple Festival (Phu Tho).
