The Organizing Board of the 2013 Con Son – Kiep Bac Fall Festival on the morning of 24 September (i.e. 20 August in lunar calendar) solemnly held the Saint Tran's Death Anniversary at Kiep Bac temple (Chi Linh, Hai Duong).

Great Lord Hung Dao, whose real name is Tran Quoc Tuan, was born to An Sinh King Tran Lieu and Lady Nguyet. Tran Quoc Tuan was the soul of Dai Viet army and people's resistance wars against the Yuan-Mongol invasions (18th century) with which his life and career were closely connected.

When alive, Great Lord Hung Dao always placed national interests above individual ones, cared about nurturing the national solidarity, and taught soldiers to live together in unity from superiors to inferiors.

The Great Lord passed away on 20 August in the year of the Mouse (1300) at his residence in Van Kiep. The King then ordered the construction of a temple, called Kiep Bac, right on the foundation of his old residence to dedicate to him.

For the past 700 years, Great Lord Hung Dao has stayed in the mind of Vietnamese people like a father, a saint.

At Kiep Bac temple and on the top of Mam Xoi mountain of Tran Rong mountain range (where legend has it that Tran Hung Dao became a saint), delegates prayed Saint Tran for prolonged peace to the country, health and prosperity, world peace, all living beings to live in peace and contentment, and solidity and integrity to the Fatherland's borders and islands.
